Hall of Honor
On Sept. 13, 2025, the 1989 Baseball Team became the seventh Eastern team inducted into the Hall of Honor.
Coached by Ed Collins and captained by Bert Bruce and Buddy Kline, this group of 19 guys played against a schedule that included opponents from Division I, II, and III on their way to finishing the year at the NCCAA National Championships in Indiana. This group, which included first year players in many key positions, won an NCCAA District Title and knocked off a top-ranked team early in the National Championships and set a new standard for Eastern Baseball.
Though it had been 35 years since the team competed, the 1989 squad remains close. Each member present credited Coach Collins with the work he did to recruit the group, which included several former opponents, who 'did not even like each other.'
MIchael Berry, a junior on the 1989 team, introduced the team, and Bert Bruce accepted.
The 1989 team was. Michael Berry, Bert Bruce, Greg Bundens, Joe Calfapietra, Jim Carbo, Omar Cedeno, Kevin Clark, John Connolly, Garry Creaney, David Fili, Joe Hill, Tom Kane, James Kennedy, Buddy Kline, John McKee, Sean McNamara, Ruben Rodriguez, Nick Russo, Dwight Villafane, and Jerry Witkowski.
