Aaron Benz ’13 is the first Eastern Men’s Lacrosse Athlete to join the Hall of Honor. Before he and his classmates arrived in 2009, Eastern Lacrosse had never had a winning season. Things have changed.

As a four-year starter in goal, Aaron helped the Eagles to reach the postseason four times and win two conference championships. In 2012, he made 19 saves to earn Championship MVP honors in a 12-11 overtime win over Widener. In his senior season, Eastern finished 15-2 and won the MAC Freedom Championship.He holds Eastern career records for wins and goals against average.

Benz was a member of the Templeton Honors College and earned USILA Scholar All-America and All-America honors He was the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men’s Lacrosse.

He was introduced by former teammate and fellow math major Dave Hoger. In his speech, Benz spoke about the challenge of overcoming cancer at the start of his freshman year and his deep appreciation to God and for for the people who influenced his development as a person and as a lacrosse player.
