Field Hockey Releases 2023 Schedule

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Field Hockey Head Coach Abbey Kemble and her staff have announced a 17-game schedule for the 2023 season. The Eagles' schedule feature eight home matches, nine road contests, and a seven-match conference slate.

Eastern will begin the campaign on Friday, Sept. 1 at Haverford. This will be the second time in the last three seasons that the Eagles have opened up their season against the Fords. Eastern holds an 11-12 record against their local rival dating back to 1980, with the Fords winning the last six meetings.

The Eagles then return to St. Davids for a three-game homestand. They open the home portion of their schedule against Immaculata on Sept. 6 at 4:00 pm. Eastern has dominated the season series over the last 35 years with wins in 18 straight meetings dating back to 1988, which included Kemble's coaching debut last September. Next, the Eagles will host NJAC foe Stockton on Sept. 9, followed by a 4:00 pm matchup with Gwynedd Mercy on Sept. 13. The Eagles hold a 28-8-1 mark against the Griffins, but dropped last year's meeting, 1-0, in Lower Gwynedd.

After three straight home games, Eastern heads to Annville to do battle with former conference foe Lebanon Valley on Sept. 16. Following conference realignment, Lebanon Valley will begin competition in the MAC Freedom this fall. The Eagles then return home on Sept. 20 for another MAC Freedom showdown against Arcadia. Eastern holds a 20-5 overall record against the Knights, but have lost the last four meetings dating back to 2017.

The Eagles return to the road for two more non-conference tilts against Stevens in Hoboken on Sept. 23 and Delaware Valley in Doylestown on Sept. 27. In its non-conference home finale on Sept. 30, Eastern will host Notre Dame of Maryland at 11:00 am. It will be the second all-time meeting between the two schools and the first in St. Davids. The Eagles defeated the Gators, 9-0, in its lone meeting in Baltimore back in 2007.

Eastern concludes its non-conference slate on Oct. 3 at Lancaster Bible, before beginning the conference portion of its schedule against the defending MAC Commonwealth Champion Messiah Falcons on Oct. 7. Messiah has won the last 15 MAC Commonwealth titles. The Eagles then head to Reading on Oct. 11 for a 7:00 pm showdown against Alvernia.

The Eagles return to St. Davids on Oct. 14, Homecoming Saturday, to face off against Hood. It will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs with Eastern holding a 2-0 advantage. Lily White delivered in overtime to give the Eagles a 2-1 win back on Oct. 9, 2021. Last fall, Eastern recorded a 3-2 triumph in Frederick.

Eastern welcomes York for a 3:30 showdown on Oct. 18, before beginning its final road trip. The Eagles will travel to Owings Mills for a 12 noon tilt against Stevenson on Oct. 21, before making the trek to Chester on Oct. 25 to take on Widener. The Eagles then close out their regular season at home against Albright on Oct. 28.

All of Eastern's home games will be streamed live on MACtv.
