Committee Announces 2025 Hall of Honor Class

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.— Eastern University's Hall of Honor Committee is thrilled to announce a stellar  group of four individuals and a team as the 17th class to join Eastern's Hall of Honor. Josey Rupert Acosta '15, Amy Dutra Dantzler '97, Brian Dennstaedt '01, and Rylie Haas Norris '17 will join the 1989 Baseball team as the Class of 2025.

The group will join the Hall of Honor in a ceremony on Sept. 13. The group will be introduced at halftime of Eastern's home football game before the official induction ceremony which will be on campus. Friends, relatives, and teammates are encouraged to make plans to join the Athletic Department in celebrating this class. Click Here to register to attend the Induction ceremony.

Acosta is the only Eastern Cross Country runner to win an Individual MAC Championship. She pulled away from the field to win the 2014 race by over 10 seconds. She finished 5th in the MAC Championships in 2013.    Her success on the course proved to be a driving force in creating a Track and Field Program. She ran track meets in 2014 and 2015 as an unattached runner and still sits atop the Eastern all-time list in the 10,000 Meter run. She will become the first woman's cross country runner to join the Hall of Honor.

Dantzler competed in both Field Hockey and Lacrosse. Whether passing or shooting, she dominated the lacrosse field. Her 216 goals and 67 assists came in a time where Eastern Women's Lacrosse played about 11 games per year. When she graduated, she held the program record for career goals and assists, and her 76 goals in 13 games in 1995 stood as a program record until Andrea Collesidis broke that mark with a 94-goal season in 18 games in 2000. She will be the fourth woman to be inducted for accomplishments in lacrosse.

Dennstaedt was a four-year starter for Eastern Men's Soccer. The Eagles won 53 matches in his time on the field. He is second on Eastern's modern-era list with 125 career points. He is tied for the program-record with 33 career assists, and sits alone in second on the career list with 46 goals. He will become the fourth Eastern Men's Soccer player to be inducted into the Hall of Honor. He will join former teammate Dan Auguste and coach Wayne Rasmussen.

Norris earned All-America honors in all four of her seasons with Eastern Volleyball. She holds the program record with 2492 career digs. Only two players in Eastern volleyball history have recorded over 600 digs in a season. Norris did it three times. She posted 653 digs in helping the Eagles to a Regional Title and an Elite 8 appearance in 2016. It was her second time playing in a national quarterfinal. She was Eastern's starting libero in 2013 as well. Eastern Volleyball was 124-25 in her career. She is the seventh player from Eastern Women's Volleyball to be join the Hall of Honor.

The 1989 Baseball team reached the National Finals at the NCCAA Tournament. Coached by Ed Collins, this group of 19 guys played against a schedule that included opponents from Division I, II, and III on their way to finishing the year in Indiana. Senior second baseman Buddy Kline led the talented group which combined experienced players with several newcomers. One of those young players, Joe Calfapietra, has gone on to success in baseball beyond college. Calfapietra is in his eighth season as the manager of the Kansas City Monarchs in the American Association of Professional Baseball.

Over the next six weeks and leading up to the weekend of September 13, we will highlight the inductees.
