LOWER GWYNEDD, Pa.—
Zach Sievert scored three second-half goals to lift Eastern University Men's Soccer (2-0-2) to a 3-0 win at Gwynedd Mercy University .
Michael Arcuri made four stops to pick up his second clean sheet of the year.
Despite a 15-to-3 edge in first-half shots, the Eagles did not open their account until the 54th minute. Sievert provided the finish but the Eagles made a quality move up to right side to create the chance. Arcuri rolled a ball out to
Jacob Shalev who slid a ball up the right side to
Marcus Pringle.
Ethan Pfau arrived in the half space and earned the corner before slamming a right-footed cross into central space. Sievert powered home the chance from five yards out.
The Eagles played the last half hour of the match down a player after Shalev picked up a second yellow card on a tackle in front of the Gwynedd bench.
Sievert scored the important insurance goal on a rebound effort in the 62nd minute. Sievert finished the day with a free kick goal after getting dropped on a dribbling run at the edge of the box. His shot slid around the wall and into the lower corner for his 19th career goal and first collegiate hat trick.
The Eagles are at Ursinus College on Tuesday.
