YORK, Pa. - In what has been a strong outdoor season, Eastern Track and Field continued that trend on the first two days of the 2025 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at York College. Over the course of two days of competition, the Eagles collected a pair of medals, four new program records, and a slew of PR's across multiple events. At the conclusion of Fridays, the men scored 19 points, while the women scored 14.
On Thursday, Eastern's 4x800 relay team of
Astin Daniel,
Tyler Long,
Ryle Mellinger, and
Robert Walton collected Third Team All-MAC honors with a third place finish. The group finished in 7:46.43, breaking a six-year old record set back in 2019. Sophomore
Savana Dodd also established another program record, finishing in sixth place in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 45.25m. That throw shattered the old record by nearly five meters. Kaylee Soboleski held the previous best mark of 39.50m, which she set back at the 2019 MAC Championships. The Eastern women's 4x800 team also scored points on Thursday, finishing fourth with a time of 9:51.66.Â
The Eagles also performed well on Friday.
Ian Hopkins, already the program record holder in the 110m Hurdles, broke his own record in the prelims with a time of 14.75.
Derrick Swain, who holds the program mark in the Discus, also broke his own record, finishing sixth with a throw of 44.09.Â
Ni'Male Greenwood punches his ticket to the finals in two events, qualifying for the both the 100 and 200 Meter finals on Saturday. The sophomore from Philadelphia finished third in the 100 Meter prelims at 10.80, while also placing fourth in the 200 Meter prelims at 22.15.Â
Walton, after picking up a medal on Thursday, clinched a spot in the 800 Meter finals on Saturday, finishing fifth with a time of 1:55.52.
Ryle Mellinger also recorded a new PR in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a fourth place finish and a time of 9:42.21. In the relays, Greenwood,
James Ugorji,
Jason Bateman, and
Austin Boddie qualified for the finals in the 4x100 with a time of 42.45.Â
In the field,
Keyon Jones and
Lawrence Day made their way onto the program's top-10 list in the High Jump. Jones finished in sixth with a jump of 1.91m, while Day recorded a jump of 1.88m. Jones is now third-all time and Day sits in fourth.Â
On the women's side, sophomore
Janitza Hernandez-Albino collected Eastern's second medal of the weekend, earning Third-Team All-MAC honors in the Outdoor Heptathlon with 3519 points. After finishing in seventh place after day one, Hernandez-Albino recorded a 4.72m in the Long Jump, a 25.85m throw in the Javelin, and a time of 2:33.64 in the 800 Meters to claim her first collegiate medal.Â
Anahrie Anderson qualified for the 400 Meter finals with a time of 59.71, third-best in program history. Senior
Hailey Shreffler also qualified for the 800 Meter finals, finishing fourth with a time of 2:19.89.
A pair of Eagles set new PRs in the 110 Meter Hurdles.
Am'yra Johnson placed second in the prelims with a time of 15.31, while fellow first-year
De'Nair Drew placed fourth with a time of 15.37.Â
Finally, in the relays, the Eastern 4x100 team of

Desirae Majett,
Tyla Cooper, and
Diamond Dixon finished in eighth place in the prelims with a time of 50.70.Â
The Eagles will conclude the 2025 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships tomorrow at York. Events will begin at 10:00 am.Â
