ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Eastern Men's Track and Field recorded another excellent day of work in its final tuneup at the Blue Jay Tune-Up before next weekend's 2025 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Eagles had several record PRs across a variety of events and many more top-10 program finishes. In all, battling through sporadic weather throughout the day, 48 athletes qualified for the MAC Championships next weekend.
Sophomore
Ni'Male Greenwood continued his phenomenal sophomore season, winning the 400m and setting a new program record in the process. His time of 49.74 breaks
Jahson Santana's time of 51.25, which he set at last year's outdoor championships. Greenwood also holds the program records in both the 100m and 200m.
Cameron Baker also ran well in the 400m, finishing seventh with a time of 51.75. That is good for third on Eastern's top-10 list.
In the 100m,
Jason Bateman and
Kojo Cunningham both went 7-8 in the event, cracking the top-10 list the process. Bateman's time of 10.98 is a PR and the third-best finish in program history. Cunningham, in his first running of the event at the collegiate level, finished in 11.09, which would rank fourth in program history.
Two more Eagles cracked the top-10 list in the 110m Hurdles.
Fritz Clement placed fifth with a PR finish of 16.42, while
Zachary Howard placed sixth with a personal-best time of 16.49. Those times rank fifth and sixth on the top-10 list.
Keyon Jones also had a strong day, cracking the top-10 in both the 200m and the High Jump. His 22.45 finish in the 200m was sixth on the day and third on Eastern's top-10 list for the event, while his 1.85m High Jump was third on the day and fourth all-time.
Shamar Davis improved his status in the top-10 of the 400m Hurdles, placing fifth with a time of 58.97. He moves up to fifth all-time in the event.
Ryle Mellinger tied his PR in the 800m, placing second with a time of 1:56.63.
In the field,
Foday Koroma recorded a PR in the Discus with a throw of 35.90 m. That is third all-time after teammates Derek Swain, who holds the school record at 41.17, and
Christian Marrero, who threw 40.36m at Millersville back on April 19. Along with Jones in the High Jump,
Elijah McCullough finished in fourth and hit a new PR of 1.80m.
To wrap up the day,
Jeric Lewis placed first in the Triple Jump at 13.84m, while the 4x100 relay team of Greenwood, Bateman,
Austin Boddie, and
James Ugorji placed second in 42.98.
Eastern will be back on the track next weekend at York for the 2025 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day event begins on Thursday, May 1.
