GRANTHAM, Pa. - Eastern Men's Track and Field capped off an phenomenal outdoor track season with seven medals, numerous PRs, and 112 points to conclude the 2026 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Messiah. Eastern finished in second place, their best finish and most points scored at the outdoor championships since the 2019 season.
Ryle Mellinger, after claiming a gold medal in the 3000m Steeplechase and a silver member as a part of the 4x800m relay on Thursday and Friday, earned his third medal of the weekend in the 1500 Meters. The senior broke his own program record and finished Second-Team All-MAC with a time of 3:57.71. In his final cross country and track and field season, Mellinger claimed a total of six medals - three golds two silver, and one bronze.
First-year
Jahari Brown capped his tremendous outdoor season with a pair of medals and a Male Rookie of the Year accolade on Saturday. Brown claimed Second-Team All-MAC Honors in the 100 Meters and third in the 200 Meters. Brown finished the 100 Meters in 10.83. Later in the day, Brown ran a 21.74 PR in the 200m. Together with his two medals at Indoor MACs, Brown finished with four medals - one gold, one silver, and two bronze.
Sophomore
Keyon Jones also had a banner day on Saturday, claiming a First-Team All-MAC finish in the 110m Hurdles and a Third-Team All-MAC finish in the 400m Hurdles. Jones broke his own program record in the 110m Hurdles, winning the race in 14.43. Later in the afternoon, he set a new PR in the 400m Hurdles, finishing third in 55.24. Across the indoor and outdoor season, Jones finished with four medals - one silver and three bronze.
Fellow sophomore
Ian Hopkins capped another successful season with a Second-Team All-MAC finish in the 110m Hurdles, finishing just behind Jones with a time of 14.53, a new PR which solidifies his hold on the No. 2 spot in program history. Hopkins finished his season as the Indoor MAC Champion in the 60 Meter Hurdles as well.
Jeric Lewis claimed Eastern's final medal of the day in the Triple Jump, earning Second-Team All-MAC honors with a jump of 14.26m. He also finished Second-Team All-MAC in the Triple Jump during the indoor season.
Jason Bateman earned five points across the 100 and 200 Meters, placing fifth in the 100 at 11.09 and eighth in the 200 Meters at 22.49.
ShaMar Davis earned five points in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a PR time of 56.39.
Fritz Clement,
Christian Scales, and
Robert Walton all finished eighth in the 110 Meter Hurdles, 400 Meters, and 800 Meters, respectively. Eastern's 4x4 team of
James Ugorji, Davis, Scales, and Jones closed out the day, finishing sixth with a time of 3:24.18.
Over the course of the weekend, the Eagles finished with 10 medals and 22 podium finishes.
