Argento Named to Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Squad

PHILADELPHIA— The Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association today announced its 2025 Academic All-Area Team for Women's Soccer. Eastern University junior Tia Argento was one of 12 outstanding area student-athletes recognized for excellence on the field and in the classroom.

Argento, a First-Team All-MAC Commonwealth defender from Bayville, N.J. helped the Eagles to a 9-5-5 mark and a third straight appearance in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. Through the season, the Eagles earned twelve clean sheets and held opponents to less than a goal per game. Only two Eastern opponents scored more than once against the Eastern back row, and one of was the game at Stockton where Argento was out with injury.

In addition to her outstanding play on the field, Argento excels in the classroom as a Computer Science and Data Science major with a minor in business.

Argento joined three women from Swarthmore, three from Jefferson, two from Penn, two from Rowan, and a student-athlete from West Chester on the squad.

She is the first Eastern player to earn a spot on the list since Nicole Weenink '20 was named Performer of the year in 2019. Weenink earned recognition in 2018 and 2019. Emily Cole '17 was the Performer of the Year in 2015 and 2016, and Eastern had two honorees in both 2011 and 2012. Kelsey Doutrich '13 Earned recognition in both those seasons. She was joined by Katie Ruth '12 after the 2011 season and by Katelyn Rittenhouse '13 after the 2012 season.

The team, voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area, was selected from nominated student-athletes from those same institutions. Nominees must be in at least their second year at their current institution and carry at least a 3.30 GPA. The 12 individuals honored this year had an average GPA of 3.83. All twelve were first-team all-conference performers with many earning regional and national honors as well.
