WEST CHESTER, Pa. - On Saturday, Eastern Track and Field competed at the Bill Butler Invitational hosted by West Chester University. The Eagles recorded seven top-eight finishes and several personal records.
Andre Taylor placed third in the triple jump at 13.43 m, while
Ryle Mellinger (10:24.44) and
Astin Daniel (10:36.22) finished fourth and seventh in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, respectively. The team of
Jaiden Mabry,
Jean-Michelet Andre,
Marvin Moore, and
Chandler Koehler placed fifth in the 4x100 relay (43.79), while Andre ran a career-best in the 110 Meter Hurdles, placing eighth (16.11). Senior
DaNeal Williams also set a new PR on Saturday, finishing the 400 Meter in a time of 51.51.
On the women's side,
Hailey Shreffler finished fifth in the 800 Meter Run (2:24.57), while
Kelly Cummings also placed fifth in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase (13:45.80), also a new personal best.
"We competed well against some really good competition," Eastern Head Coach
Will Mills said. "We had season bests, personal best, and a few more people qualify for the conference meet. Things are starting to click with the training and we are excited to see what next week looks like."
Eastern is back in action next weekend for the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational in Baltimore. Events begin at 10:00 am.
