road win against the Haverford College Fords on Tuesday afternoon.
Pitching by committee, the Eagles kept the Fords scoreless
in the first three and final three innings. Austin Little pitched a nearly-perfect
first two innings. He only allowed one baserunner on a leadoff error, but
erased him with a double play. Then he pitched a perfect second inning.
Chris Marinaccio picked up the win for the Eagles in two
innings of relief. Tommy Strazza moved from second base to the mound in the
eighth and earned the two-inning save.

spot. The right fielder batted 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Three other batters
tallied two-hit games: Ryan McMenamin, Joe Grato and Eric Rossi. Those three
each had an RBI.
The Eagles recorded 10 hits overall and demonstrated
patience at the plate with nine walks. Kelly, McMenamin and Rossi all had two
walks to go with their two hits.
Eastern jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Eagles
loaded the bases with the first three batters and then cleanup man Grato did
his job and knocked in a run with a single to left. Rossi then forced in a run
with a walk.
The Eagles added two more in the third after loading the
bases with one out. Tommy Strazza batted in Rossi with a single to right field,
and then Kelly put the ball in play, reaching on a fielder's choice and scoring
Cal Sanelli.
Haverford struck back with all five of their runs in the
fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Fords took the lead in the sixth on a
squeeze bunt and threatened to increase the lead. With runners on second and
third, however, Andrew Check came up with an inning-ending catch in center
field.
Eastern took back the lead in the seventh, scoring two runs
on a single by Kelly. McMenamin batted in Check for an insurance run,
increasing Eastern's lead to 7-5.
