NEWTOWN, Pa.— The Middle Atlantic Conference Office today released all-conference honors and special awards for the 2026 baseball season. MAC Commonwealth coaches tabbed five Eastern University players for recognition.
Trent MacDougall led the list with First-Team All-MAC Commonwealth Honors and a Co-Defensive Player of the Year award. Fellow outfielder
Thomas Kozlusky and pitcher
Brennan Moloughney joined him on the First Team, and
David Garrido and
JJ Matos garnered Honorable Mention.
While playing an outstanding center field, MacDougall led the Eagles from the lead-off spot throughout the season. The junior finished with a program-record 48 runs scored while reaching base on nearly 54 percent of his plate appearances. With six home runs and 12 doubles, MacDougall pounded out a stellar 1.174 OPS and stole 30 bases in 32 attempts. He finished with 53 hits and tied for the team lead with 29 walks.
MacDougall registered 93 putouts in center field, had two outfield assists, and did not make an error. In 96 career games, his only error came in April of 2024. He shared Defensive Player of the Year honors with Messiah catcher Matt Luchovick.
Kozlusky started all 40 games and matched MacDougall on the bases. The senior left fielder tied his center fielder with 30 stolen bases. After spending much of the start of the season hitting in the bottom of the order, Kozlusky moved into the second spot in the order. He reached in over 45 percent of his plate appearances and hit .413 with 31 hits in 21 league games.
Moloughney finished with a 5-4 overall mark and won three of his league starts. The junior left-hander only allowed more than a single earned run in one of his final nine outings on the year. He threw 40.2 innings in the league. He threw a complete-game shutout against Hood, went seven innings without allowing a run in a win at Widener, and threw five scoreless innings at Stevenson. He struck out 46 hitters in 55.2 innings of work. Moloughney is the first Eastern pitcher to earn First-Team Honors since Eastern joined the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2009.
Matos claims Honorable Mention for his work behind the plate. The sophomore backstop hit .378 in league games and threw out six-of-20 would-be base-stealers. He finished his second season with two home runs and 21 RBI's.
Including some time as a designated hitter, Garrido played four positions in league play. One of only a few rookies mentions on the All-MAC Commonwealth list. Garrido was effective behind the plate and in the infield. He hit .353 and reached base at a .462 clip.
The Eagles finished the year with a 26-14 overall record and were alive in the race to reach the MAC Commonwealth Tournament on the final day of the season. Though they finished in a tie for third, the tiebreakers were against them, and when Hood rallied in the bottom of the ninth to win, the Eagles were out. The 26 wins is the most by an Eastern team since Eastern joined the NCAA in 1992.
With Neumann joining the league, the MAC Commonwealth will expand to nine teams for Baseball in 2027.
