POMONA, N.J.— Eastern University Women's Track and Field opened the outdoor season with several solid performances at the Stockton Invitational in South Jersey.
Savana Dodd won the Shot Put and Zion Green posted a strong early-season mark on the way to a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters.
On Friday night
Ebony Johnson,
Emma Kline and Meagan Keating all threw the Hammer. Johnson set a PR by nearly two meters and took fifth in the event.
Aniya Stevens finished sixth overall in the 100 meters. Her 13.18 has her fourth in Eastern's top ten with nearly a whole season to build.
De'Nair Drew finished fifth in the 200 and was only a couple tenths off her her career-best mark set last year. Greene also posted a top-10 time in the event.
While Greens's 1:01.81 in the 400 is only 8th on Eastern's all-time list, top marks in the 400 usually come much later in the season.
Dodd won the Shot Put with a very solid 12.65 meter toss and finished ninth in her first Discus event of the year. With two throws over 30 meters, Josie Dowd delivered a solid set in her fifrst collegiate Javelin competition. Her top mark of 31.83 has her fifth on Eastern's career list.
The Eagles will compete again next weekend at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener.
