PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Junior
Savana Dodd had another banner weekend on the field, setting new program records in both the Shot Put and the Weight Throw as Eastern Women's Track and Field competed at the Widener Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday.
Dodd, who has reset her own program record in all but one event this winter, made her best throw of the season yet again on Friday. After breaking her record by little chunks on a consistent basic, the Gibbsboro, N.J. native set her new program mark by over a quarter meter. On her final throw of the day, Dodd made a throw of 12.75m, which surpassed her previous mark of 12.51 she set last week at F&M.
Dodd was even more impressive in the Weight Throw. Dodd's final toss of the day traveled 16.57m, 0.17m further than her previous record. Furthermore, the junior is now ranked 20th in all of NCAA Division III in the event.
In other events,
De'Nair Drew matched her PR in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.50, while first-year
Ashley Bitler set a new PR in the Mile with a time of 5:36.59.
Eastern Women's Track and Field will be back in action next weekend at the Penn-State Tune-Up and the Keogh Invitational.
