PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Eastern Women's Track and Field continued their strong indoor season at the Widener Schuylkill Showdown over the weekend.
Savana Dodd broke her own Shot Put record for the fourth consecutive meet,
Aniya Stevens and
De'Nair Drew set new PR's on the track, and
Gisella Croge qualfied for the Indoor Championships with a solid showing in the 800m.
Dodd has been on a roll throughout the winter, and it continued on Friday. Four of her six throws went over 12 meters, with her third throw traveling 12.51m. That broke her previous record of 12.23m, which she set at the Coach I Invite at F&M last week. Dodd also finished third in the Weight Throw at 14.98m. In the Shot Put, Dodd ranks second in both the MAC and the Metro Region. In the Weight Throw, Dodd ranks first in the MAC and second in the Metro. Sophomore
Megan Keating also PR'd in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.39m. She moved up to fifth in program history.
In the Long Jump, junior
Janitza Hernandez-Albino finished eighth with a jump of 4.93m, and first-year
Madison Bunnell recorded a PR with a jump of 4.74m. Hernandez-Albino qualified for the Indoor Championships last week, and Bunnell punched her ticket back in December.
On the track, Stevens also had another strong weekend, PR'ing in the 60m for her fourth straight meet. The first-year from Harrington, Del. finished in 8.21, solidifying her fourth place spot in program history. She qualified for the Indoor MAC Championships back in December. Drew moved into the top 10 in two events. Her 9.50 run in the 60m Hurdles puts her third in program history behind Nicole Weenink and Lenise Morales, and her time of 27.72 in the 200m put her in a tie for sixth. She qualified for the 60m Hurdles back in December.
Croge punched her ticket to the Indoor Championships with a first-place finish and a season-best time of 2:27.12, and First-year
Zion Greene ran a season-best 1:03.67 in the 400m.
Eastern will be back at F&M next weekend for the third time this winter, competing in the Mini-Dip Invitational.
