INDIANAPOLIS— In a a little bit of a nervous morning, Eastern University Softball had to listen to 62 other schools named before learning if and where the team would continue its season. With a strong season on the diamond, the Eagles garnered a precious at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles will start their NCAA journey in Bethlehem, Pa. against Williams College at a Regional Tournament hosted by Moravian College. The game is slated for a 2:30 start, but could start slightly later as it is the second game of the day.
The host Greyhounds (36-7) earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Landmark Conference Championship yesterday. They will take on a team from Worcester State (27-12) that earned the automatic bid from the MASCAC. The first game of the regional will be Thursday at noon.
Williams (26-12) lost in the opening round of the NESCAC Tournament this year and had a similarly nervous time watching the field unfold. The Ephs won a regional championship at Husson last year before losing to the eventual champion East Texas Baptist in a Super-Regional.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
