NEWTOWN, Pa.– The Middle Atlantic Conference office today released weekly honors for the week ending April 6th. Eastern University runner
Hailey Shreffler earned MAC Runner of the Week honors for a strong performance at the 42nd Annual Millersville Metrics event.
Shreffler, a senior from Nesquehoning, Pa., won the 800 meters in her first attempt at the race this outdoor season. A 2024 outdoor national qualifier in the 800, Shreffler did a 5,000 Meters at Widener in her first meet of the outdoor season. Inside, she earned All-Metro Region honors in the 800 Meters, the Mile, and the 5,000 Meter Run.
At Millersville, she ran the opening lap in 68 seconds and ran away from the field with a 67-second lap to run 2:15.86. That outdoor time is faster than any time she ran last season before the Widener LCQ where she posted a career-best 2:11.1 to earn her spot at Nationals. Shreffler won the race at Millersville by over five seconds.
Shreffler also ran a strong leg on Eastern's 4 x 400 meter Relay that took second at the event. She is the first Eastern runner to be recognized for track and field since Kierra Zack was recognized in May of 2019. Shreffler earned a weekly honor for Cross Country this past fall.
Eastern University Track and Field will compete at Rowan on Saturday.
