MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - On a rainy Saturday, Eastern Track and Field competed in the 40th Millersville Metrics at Millersville University. Both the men and women teams battled in their events and gained some impressive results.
For the women, sophomore distance runner
Hailey Shreffler finished second in the 800 meter run (2:21.82), Shreffler nearly matched the time of 2:21.81 she recorded in last years event.
Divora Bekele placed seventh in the triple jump and eight in the long jump.
"We are exciting to watch," Eastern Head Coach
Will Mills said. "Each week we get better and today was an indicator of that."
For the men, junior jumper
Jayden Smith took fourth in the long jump (6.33 meters). Smith's performance marked a new personal best in the long jump, beating his best score of (6.08 meters).
Marvin Moore,
Jean-Michelet Andre,
Troy Hicks, and
DaNeal Williams finished sixth place in the 4x100 meter relay.Â
"We had some individuals score well in some very competitive events, and some athletes scored some season or personal bests," Coach Mills said. "I am very pleased with the progress we are making and continue to look forward to future improvements."
Eastern Track and Field will be back in action at the Rowan Invitational on Saturday, April 8.
