SELINSGROVE, Pa. - In its final meet before the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Eastern Track and Field competed at the Susquehanna Tune-Up on Saturday.
Aliza White-Vega broke her own personal and program record in the pole vault, while
Nolan Case and
Jaiden Mabry each hit qualifying marks in the pole vault and 60 meter, respectively.
After setting the program record back in early February, White-Vega crushed it at Susquehanna. The sophomore from Lancaster cleared 3.45 m (11'3.75"), establishing a new program and personal best in the process. Additionally, White-Vega won the pole vault for the second consecutive meet. Fellow sophomore
Hailey Shreffler finished fourth in the 400 with a season-best time of 2:27.57.
On the men's side, first-year runner
Jaiden Mabry run a personal best 7.42 in the 60 meter, qualifying for the conference meet in the process. Junior
Nolan Case also qualified in the pole vault, placing fifth with a vault of 3.80 m.
DaNeal Williams placed fourth in the 400 meter (53.45),
Andre Taylor finished fourth in the long jump (6.40 m), and the 4x200 team of Mabry, Williams,
Marvin Moore, and Bamidele Obadina placed fifth (1:39.14).
"Today was successful," Eastern Track and Field Head Coach
Will Mills said. "We did some fine tuning and worked on some strategies to prepare us for conference. There were some good performances all around and we feel confident heading into the Indoor MAC Championship next weekend."
Eastern heads to Alvernia next weekend for the 2023 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The two-day event begins on Friday, Feb. 24.
