BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Eastern Track and Field competed in its second meet of the young season at the Moravian Indoor Meet on Saturday. The Eagles recorded six top-five finishes and a few PRs in the event.
On the men's side,
Andre Taylor placed third in the Triple Jump (12.7 meters) and fourth in the Long Jump (6.36 m), while first-year
Jaiden Mabry set a new PR in the 60 Meter Dash (7.51). Fellow first-year
Ryle Mellinger finished the 800 Meter Run in 2:06.71, also a personal best.
For the women,
Hailey Shreffler placed third in the 800 Meter Run (2:28.01), while
Aliza White-Vega and
Paige Carpenter finished fifth (3.19 m) and sixth (3.19 m) in the Pole Vault, respectively. In the 5000 Meter, senior
Kelly Cummings set a PR with a time of 21:01.61.
"Today was a mixed bag," Eastern Track and Field Assistant Coach
Kiehl Smith said. "We saw a lot of good things and we saw a lot of things to improve on. The competition we saw today was steep, but I think we performed against some tough opponents. Today was a good step forward for our athletes as we head deeper into the season."
Eastern Track and Field will be back in action next Saturday at the DuCharme Invitational in Carlisle.
