ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Head Coach
Scott Renauro announced that Corey Paluga will join the Eastern Baseball staff. In its first season in the MAC Commonwealth, Eastern Baseball advanced to the second round of the conference tournament before falling at York.
Paluga comes to Eastern after serving for seven years as the head coach at Elmira College. He was the first coach in program history and led the Eagles to the third seed in the Empire Eight tournament in the program's third season. He coached 15 All-Conference selections, two All-Region performers, and had three players sign professional contracts.
Before his time at Elmira, Paluga served as a graduate assistant at Lynchburg, his alma mater, and then as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Stevens Institute of Technology.
In addition to working with several position groups, and focusing on improving team base-running, he will serve as Renauro's recruiting coordinator and will be the head coach for all developmental squad games.
"I am looking forward to having Corey on staff this year," Renauro said. "Bringing in someone with his experience and reputation in the baseball community is going to help Eastern Baseball continue on the right path."
"I'm honored and excited to join Coach Renauro's staff and help build a contender in the MAC Commonwealth," Paluga said "Scott's passion and energy were clear from our first meeting, and the future of the baseball program is bright with his leadership. I look forward to bringing my experiences, along with my passion to mentor young men, to a program and athletic department that is on the rise."
Paluga has already begun recruiting and he and his family will be here for the start of the school year.
The addition of full-time assistant coaches in several key sports is part of Eastern's commitment to serving student-athletes in in a growing department. Each new full-time assistant will also have an assigned duty in the athletic department.
