Baseball Splits In Tune-up Doubleheader With Arcadia

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GLENSIDE, Pa.—Eastern University Baseball split its doubleheader with the Arcadia University Knights on Saturday. The series, a late addition to the schedule, provided the Eagles a chance to get back on the field in-between the original end of the regular season and the start of conference playoffs.

Eastern took game one Saturday 5-3, but dropped game two 3-2.

Game One: EU 5, AU 3 (Box Score)

Eastern scored four runs in the top of the third on one swing. Ryan McMenamin unloaded the bases and then scored himself with a double and help from some bumbling by Arcadia's defense.

Arcadia pulled within a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Eastern added an insurance run on a bases-loaded fielder's choice that scored Tommy Strazza. Strazza led the Eagles with two hits in the game.

Korey McCormack struck out two Knights swinging in a perfect 7th inning to earn the save.

Game Two: EU 2, AU 3 (Box Score)

In the low-scoring second game of the doubleheader, Eagles' pitcher Chris Marinaccio only allowed one run on a hit and a walk in four-innings in the loss. Marinaccio struck out three batters. Arcadia added two runs on three hits in the fifth.

Eastern finally crossed home plate in the top of the seventh. The Eagles scored two runs with two outs on a hit and three Arcadia errors. McMenamin knocked in a run for his third RBI of the day.

Eastern (15-22) plays in the opening game of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Thursday. Details about the tournament can be found at this link.
