CAMDEN, N.J.—Eastern University Baseball ended up on the wrong end of a shutout on Monday, dropping the non-conference game against the Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors 8-0.

The Eagles posted seven hits scattered over nine innings. The Eagles had two runners on in the sixth and seventh but couldn't do much else at the plate besides that.

The Scarlet Raptors had three more hits than the Eagles. Joe Brooks had two of those hits, both home runs, to bring in five runs. Brooks hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second to break the game wide open.

Eastern used six pitchers in the loss. Tyler Sterkenburg took the loss in the start. Andrew Check had the longest outing in relief, throwing 2.1 innings. Mike McCracken, Justin Frederick, Jarrid Kosa and Josh Freed each threw an inning. Kosa and Freed each struck out two batters in their frame.

Eastern (14-21) will most likely add another non-conference game before the Freedom Conference Tournament begins on May 7.
