Box Score

DOYLESTOWN, Pa.--Eastern Baseball pounded 16 runs on the road to claim a Freedom Conference series win against the Delaware Valley College Aggies.

The Eagles battered the Aggies 16-3 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 4-8 in the Freedom Conference. Delaware Valley dropped to 2-6 in the conference with the loss.

The Eagles had three explosive innings where they scored five runs. Eastern jumped ahead with five in the top of the first, put five more on the board in the next inning and added five more in the fifth inning. Eastern starting pitcher Barry Jost took advantage of the 5-0 lead when he took the mound in the bottom of the first. Jost scattered 11 hits over six innings to pick up his second win of the season. Jost struck out two batters and walked none. Chadd Spence and Joe Clancy combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Every starter in Eastern's lineup picked up a hit en route to a 20-hit game. Eric Rossi had a big day at the plate bringing home five runs on a 3-for-5 day. Rossi cleared the bases for the second day in a row, smacking a 3-RBI triple to right center in the first inning.

Andrew Check had the first big hit of the second inning. He hit a two-RBI double to center field, his second hit on a 3-for-5 day. Dillon Schwartzer kept the runs coming later in the inning when he unloaded the bases with a 3-RBI double.

In the fifth, Andrew DiFerdinando, Andrew Check and Eric Rossi picked up RBI singles. Joe Grato batted a run in with a sac fly, and Joe De Los Santos doubled to bring in the fifth run of the inning.

The Eagles added one more run in the seventh inning with another extra-base hit for Rossi, an RBI-double to left. Rossi has hit safely in his last four games, going 8-for-16 with 13 RBIs during that span. These four games help Rossi get his batting average above the Mendoza line and up to .260 for the year.

DiFerdinando batted 4-fo-5 on the day and has assembled an eight-game hit streak. DiFerdinando's batting average entering today's game was second-best on the team at a .373 mark, but after going 4-for-5, it jumped to .411, best on the squad.

The Eagles are scheduled to play at Widener on Monday at 3:30 p.m., but with a 90% chance of rain forecasted for Monday, that game may be postponed. Check back on the schedule page for updates or follow us on Facebook   or Twitter  for real-time updates.
