Baseball Wraps Up Season At Riversharks' Park

Box Score

CAMDEN, N.J.--Eastern Baseball wrapped up the 2014 season against Rutgers-Camden University at Campbell's Field, the minor league stadium for the Camden Riversharks.

The Eagles fell 3-2 on a walk-off bloop hit to left field that just got past a diving Greg Lukasik, who was playing as a position player for the first time since 2010.

The Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth after Eagles' right fielder Andrew DiFerdinando gunned down a runner at home plate. Camden's Joe Sigismondi, with two strikes and two outs, hit an RBI-single to tie the game at 2-2. Sigsimondi stole second and then scored the game-winning run when Camden's Joe Brooks hit the walk-off single just out of Lukasik's reach.

The Eagles took the first lead of the game, going up 1-0 in the third inning with Ryan Kehr batting in Jake Bunjo from third base. Kehr, who was also pitching his first start of the season, went six innings, allowing three hits, three walks and one earned run. He also struck out two batters.

Tied 1-1 in the top of the ninth, the Eagles took the lead when Ryan McMenamin, Tyler Orr and Eric Rossi all reached safely to lead off the inning. After the next two batters were retired, Kehr drew a walk and forced in the go-ahead run.

Orr, a senior, finished his career with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

The Eagles ended the season with a 7-27 record and will have to say goodbye to seven seniors. The Eagles established a strong core of young players this season and will look to them to propel the team forward in the coming years.
