CENTER VALLEY, Pa.--Eastern Baseball fell 12-5 at DeSales University on Thursday afternoon, undone by a big first inning for the Bulldogs.

The DeSales Bulldogs crossed home plate seven times in their opening frame. The seven first inning runs proved to be the difference in the game.

Eastern's Korey McCormack was hit with the loss after allowing five hits and seven runs to start the game. Barry Jost then tossed 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. Austin Little helped Jost out of a jam in the third, when he replace Jost with two runners on and one out. Little threw two pitchers and induced the groundout double play. Senior Lucas Bremerman then was called on to pitch the final five innings. He gave up two runs on five hits and no walks. He also struck out one.

Seven different Eagles had a hit on Thursday. Ryan McMenamin and Tyler Orr each batted in one run.

Down 7-0 in the top of the second, Eastern chipped away with three runs. Andrew Check batted a ball to center field that was misplayed and allowed Dillon Schwartzer and Joseph De Los Santos to score on the error. Orr then brought Check home with an RBI-single.

DeSales stretched its lead to 12-3 by the end of the fourth. The Eagles took two runs back in the fifth with an RBI-double by Ryan McMenamin. McMenamin later scored on an error by DeSales' third baseman on a ball hit in play by Joe Grato.

The Eagles are off until Monday. The Eagles and Bulldogs will complete the series with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Monday.
