Baseball Drops Contest To TCNJ

EWING, N.J.—Eastern Baseball fell 10-1 to The College of New Jersey Lions on Friday afternoon.

The Lions took a 5-0 lead after three innings and scored one run in each inning the rest of the way.

Eastern put together five hits against the Lions' pitchers and struck out ten times. Eric Rossi had a multi-hit day. He went 2-for-4 batting in the two-hole. The Eagles lineup shifted up a spot with Ryan McMenamin, the usual leadoff man, out of the lineup Friday. Joe Grato, batting cleanup, batted in the Eagles' run with a sac fly that scored Rossi from third.

The Eagles sent five pitchers to the hill. Ryan Ellison went 2.1 innings to start the game, Tyler Sterkenburg threw 0.2 innings, Jordan Miller 2.2 innings, Tom Gordon 1.1 innings and Courtney Penson went the final inning, making his first appearance of the season.

After several changes to the schedule, Eastern will host FDU-Florham at home on Saturday for a nine-inning game and then will play a doubleheader at FDU on Sunday.
