IMMACULATA, Pa.--Eastern Baseball fell 7-2 on the road against Immaculata University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles' offense struggled Wednesday as nine runners reached base on six hits and three walks. Both of Eastern's runs came off sacrifice flies. The first two batter's in Eastern's lineup, Angelo Kelly and Eric Rossi, went 2-for-4 today. Anthony Messina and Tyler Orr posted Eastern's remaining two hits. Orr stretched his hitting-streak to ten games with a first-pitch single in the top of the first.
The Immaculata Mighty Macs collected nine hits and 10 walks and capitalized on Eastern's four errors.
Eastern pitcher Jordan Miller was tabbed with the loss. He tossed 3 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, only two of which were earned.
The Eagles went up 1-0 in the second inning. Anthony Messina hit a lead-off double to left center and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Ryan McMenamin hit a ball deep enough to center field to score Messina on the sacrifice fly.
The Mighty Macs responded with two runs in the second, both unearned, and three more runs in the fourth, two of which were also unearned. Immaculata added a run in the sixth and the seventh to take the 7-1 lead.
The Eagles loaded the bases with one out in the top of the ninth. Angelo Kelly plated Andrew DiFerdinando from third with the sacrifice fly on the second out of the inning, but were unable to do any more damage.
Eastern plays a rescheduled game against Haverford on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
