the series and fell below .500 in the Freedom Conference.
Eastern took game one 2-1 with Brandon Kenish throwing a complete game, striking out four and walking one, but in game two, Eastern fell behind early and lost 17-3.
Both starting pitchers threw six scoreless innings to start game one, but Eastern posted two runs in the top of the seventh with an RBI-single by Devon Zigenfuss to score Ryan McMenamin and an RBI sacrifice bunt by Brendan Spall that scored Kristian Cortizo. The Devils earned a run back in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly, but Kenish thwarted any comeback hopes by striking out the Devils' final batter.
In game two, Eastern's offense was nearly non-existent, as the Eagles batted for just two hits. Both of those hits came from center fielder Andre Butler. The Devils, on the other hand, reached on a hit 18 times, scoring three runs in the first, five runs in the second, one in the third, two in the fifth and six in the sixth.
The Eagles face off against Immaculata on Tuesday at 4 pm, and have two Freedom Conference series left, one against Manhattanville College on Friday and Saturday and the other against Misericordia on April 27 and 28.
The Eagles are now 18-12 and 7-8 in the conference.
