Junior pitcher Nick Moeltner tossed all nine innings for the Eagles, and allowed just one run in the win. Moeltner fanned eight batters while giving up just one run and seven hits. Penn St.-Berks put the pressure on Moeltner in the bottom of the ninth, scoring a run and loading the bases with two outs. Moeltner escaped the jam by getting lead-off hitter Aaron Wilkins to strike out looking.
The Eagles, now 3-2 this season, received another offensive blast from first baseman Dave Prager. Prager knocked his fourth homerun of the season to lead off the fourth inning, putting the Eagles on the board first. Prager finished the game 3-for-4. Prager is batting .474 this season and has a slugging percentage of 1.158.
Left fielder Tyler Orr hit two RBI in a 1-for-3 game. Right fielder Dave Ziegenfuss also batted 1-for-3 and knocked in Eastern's final run with a sacrifice fly.
Greg DeSarro was the only other Eagle with a multi-hit game. He batted 2-for-4; however, his incredibly high batting average took a slight hit, dropping to .556.
Eastern out hit Penn St.-Berks 10 to seven.
