Box Score In the team's only action of the week, the senior second baseman had a
massive day at the plate as the Eagles downed Delaware Valley College
in a Freedom Conference doubleheader.
Garcia hit safely in 8 of 9
plate appearances and drove in seven runs. In a 4-5 performance in an
8-7 come-from-behind win the opener, he cracked two doubles. With one of those two-base hits, he
drove in a pair of runs to tie the game in the seventh. He kept the
momentum going for the Eagles in the second game when he smashed a two-run
homer in the bottom of the first to put the Eagles up for good. He
would finish the doubleheader with 7 RBIs, 4 runs scored, and 13 total
bases.
Garcia played a flawless second base and turned a pair of
double plays as the Eagles improved to 4-4 in conference play. He is
currently second on the team with a .459 average and a .522 on base
percentage. He is tied for the team lead with 15 RBIs and has three home
runs. Garcia has a .976 fielding percentage and has been very
instrumental in the middle of infield that has turned 21 double plays in
16 games.
Head Coach Matt Midkiff said of Garcia's award, "Dan
deserves this. He has been very consistent in the field and has been a
constant threat at the plate."
The 9-7 Eagles will complete their
season series with the Aggies this afternoon. They will take on
Arcadia University on Tuesday before opening the weekend series with
league-leading DeSales on the road Friday.
