Box Score relief pitchers did a great job keeping the team in the game after the Eagles gave up 5 runs in the first 2/3's of an inning, but a ninth inning rally fell just short.
Ben Jones came on in relief in the first and pitched 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Kenny Long allowed just a pair of earned runs in the last six innings. Down 7-1 going into the ninth, the Eagles bats finally came to life with a five run inning. Eastern Head Coach Keith Curley was pleased with the effort of his relief staff and the ninth inning rally. In only their second chance to play on an outdoor diamond, the Eagles showed promise in the field and at the plate in the ninth.Â
First year outfielder Chris Dole led the Eastern attack with a pair of RBI on the evening. The Eagles return to action tomorrow morning with a single game against LaRoche.
