Box Score ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Men's Tennis began its 2026 fall season on Saturday afternoon at the EU Tennis Courts with a 4-1 win over Immaculata. With the Mighty Macs only fielding four players, the teams played four singles matches and two doubles matches. The Eagles won both doubles matches and three of the four singles matches.

First-year Jared Vitz and sophomore Zachary Sprung recorded Eastern's first win at No. 2 doubles, beating Immaculata's Dalton Spencer and Aiden Gall 6-1. Junior Jared Groff and first-year Gary Gruici gave the Eagles the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Gaston Ragno and Mike DeMattei at No. 1 doubles. 

In the first singles match of his career, Gruici earned his second win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over DeMattei at No. 2 singles. After Immaculata picked up their first point at No. 1 singles, Sprung secured the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Gall at No. 4 singles. Vitz also recorded his first collegiate singles win, earning a first set tiebreaker victory, 7-6 (7-2), before winning the second set, 6-2. 

Eastern (1-0) will continue its fall season next Saturday with a 12:00 pm home match against Penn State Abington.
