GRANTHAM, Pa. - Eastern Men's Tennis' season came to an end on Thursday evening with a 4-0 loss to Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinal. The Falcons claimed all three doubles matches to earn the doubles points, and won the first three singles matches to clinch.
Jeffrey Day and
Jared Groff played a competitive match at No. 2 doubles against Messiah's Eli Noll and TIm Shaeffer, but dropped the contest 6-4. Both other doubles matches went to Messiah by a 6-1 score.
The Falcons went on to win No. 5, No. 2, and No. 1 singles to punch their ticket to the Championship. First-year
Stephen Dottoli battled valiantly at No. 1 singles, but fell 6-4, 6-2. After Messiah clinched, the other three matches were halted in progress.
Eastern finished the 2025-2026 season with seven wins and a 3-2 mark in conference play, their best record against conference opponents since the 2015-2016 season. Groff finished with a team-high nine wins, seven of those coming at No. 4 singles, while Day and Dottoli combined for 12 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. respectively. Furthermore, the duos of Dottoli and
Peter Folga, together with Day and Groff, combined for 12 wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles.
Eastern Men's Tennis will resume play this coming fall.
