Seven Earn MAC Commonwealth Softball Honors

NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conference office today released All-League honors and special awards for the 2026 Softball season. MAC Commonwealth coaches tabbed seven Eastern University players for recognition. First-year pitcher Emily Trzonkowski was named both Pitcher and Rookie of the Year and earned First-Team honors. Maura Yoos and Mackenzie Laub joined Trzonkowski on the First Team. Ainsley O'Donnell, Hailey Burke, and Morgan Joseph were all named to the Second Team, while Sydney Ostolaza earned Honorable Mention recognition. 

Trzonkowski, who hails from Middletown, Del., had a tremendous first year in the circle for the Eagles. In 23 appearances and 18 starts, Trzonkowski finished 16-1, winning her first 16 starts. In 112.1 innings pitched, Trzonkowski recorded 126 strikeouts and posted a 1.99 ERA. She is the second Eastern pitcher in the last two years to be named both the Rookie and Pitcher of the Year. She was named the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week five times, and struck out a program record 16 batters in a 4-0 win over Immaculata on March 31. She ranked first in the conference in ERA, and opposing batting average and was second in the league in both strikeouts and wins. 

Yoos, a sophomore shortstop from Warrington, excelled in both the field and at the plate. Yoos led the Eagles with 36 runs scored, 51 hits, a .436 batting average, and a .477 on base percentage. In the field, she committed just five errors on 122 chances. She finished with back-to-back four-hit games against Allegheny and Wentworth on Eastern's Spring Break trip to begin the season. She put together a 12-game hitting streak from March 31 to April 24, recording at least two hits in nine of those games. It is her first First Team accolade. 

Laub, a senior right fielder from Whitehall, earned her third All-MAC Commonwealth honor and her second First-Team accolade. She was one of Eastern's most consistent batters all season, finishing with a .396 batting average, 20 runs scored, 36 hits, seven doubles, and 29 RBIs. She was tied for the team lead in RBIs with first-year Maryanna Nagle, ranked second in batting average, and third in hits. She played error free softball in the outfield, converting all 39 of her chances. She began the season with an eight-game hitting streak, and put together another six-game hitting streak in late March. 

O'Donnell, a junior from Moscow, Pa., was named to the All-Conference for the third consecutive year as an outfielder. A mainstay at the top of the lineup, O'Donnell consistently produced, hitting .362 with 30 runs scored, 38 hits, 10 doubles, five triples, one home run, and 27 RBIs. Her five triples in a single season are a new program record, surpassing Alisa Vander Pyl's previous mark of four set back in 2000. She led the Eagles in OPS at 1.035 and ranked second in runs scored, doubles, and hits. She finished the season with 11 multi-hit games and committed just one error on 64 chances in center field. 

Forced into action due to injury, Burke played second base at a high level and hit well throughout the season, earning a spot on the Second Team. The Coatesville native hit .316 on the season with 14 runs scored, 24 hits, three doubles, a triple, and 11 RBIs. She had four two-hit games and drove in a pair of runs against Hood on March 21 and Stevenson on April 4. 

In her graduate season, Joseph was efficient when given the opportunity, earning Second-Team honors as a utility player. The Flanders, N.J. native. She was ninth in the MAC Commonwealth in both on-base percentage and OPS, and in 25 appearances, she finished with a .375 batting average, 16 runs scored, 15 hits, two doubles, two triples, and six RBIs. She hit a pair of triples and knocked in four runs in Eastern's doubleheader sweep of Stevenson on April 4.

In her final season with Eastern Softball, Ostolaza ended her career with an Honorable Mention accolade. The Landing, N.J. product led the Eagles with 12 doubles and three home runs, and finished with a .280 batting average, 28 hits, and 22 RBIs. She recorded three hits against Lebanon Valley on March 2 and York on March 14 and had a pair of three-RBI games against Allegheny and Stevenson.

Eastern finished the season with a 26-9 record and made the MAC Commonwealth Tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
