CHESTER, Pa. — IN less than ideal conditions, Eastern University Women's Track and Field Competed at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener. On a day with several solid performances,
Aniya Stevens posted probably the best of them with a strong run in the 100 meters.
With almost no wind, Stevens came through the line in 12.88. Only one runner, Courney Moyer in the 2019 MAC Championships, has covered the straightaway in less time. Moyer ran a 12.67 in still and steamy conditions in May. Stevens also improved her time with a 27.06 time in the 200. That has her fourth on the Eastern career list.
Savana Dodd had several solid throws in the Shot Put and hit the MAC qualifying standard in both the Hammer and the Discus. Her 12.70 meter effort tin the Shot Put was good enough for second place in the meet and was just off her outdoor best set at MAC Championships last year. As important, Dodd showed consistency and had most of her efforts right in that range.
Ashley Bitler and
Talia Fogel hit the MAC qualifying standard in the 5,000, and
Kayleigh Newsome and
Tierra Hill covered the 25 laps of the 10,000 meters well within the qualifying time.
Janitza Hernandez-Albino finished fourth in the Triple Jump with five efforts over 10 meters.
The Eagles will be off Easter weekend and will compete again at Messiah on April 10th and 11th. This year's MAC Championships will be at Messiah at the end of Aril.
