Men's Tennis Claims League Win at York

Box Score YORK, Pa.— Eastern University Men's Tennis (4-2,1-0) opened its MAC Comonwealth slate with a tight 4-3 win at York. With the match tied at three apiece, Tiger Winston pulled out a 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 win at the fifth singles spot to secure the match for the Eagles.

Eastern dropped the doubles point despite taking the top doubles spot with a 6-3 win by Stephen Dottolli and Peter Folga. Jeffrey Day and Jared Groff dropped the match at second doubles in a 7-3 tiebreaker.

Day and Groff each bounced back to win their doubles matches in straight sets, and Dottolli earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at the top of the order to set up Winston's heroics. Winston claimed the first set with a 7-4 win in the tiebreak and rallied after dropping the second set.

The Eagles will hope for warmer weather and less wind when they travel to Arcadia on Tuesday for a non-league match. They will not compete in the league again until they host Alvernia on tax day.
