NEWTOWN, Pa.— The Middle Atlantic Conference Office released Weekly Honors for the week ending March 7. Eastern Basball went 5-1 on the week and swept MAC Commonwealth Weekly Honors for the first time in program history.
Luke Meehan picked up his second MAC Commonwealth Player fo the Week award and
Brennan Moloughney was named MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career.
Moloughney, a junior lefty, needed just 61 pitches to record a seven-inning shutout win over St. Elizabeth University. He struck out six and did not walk a hitter as the Eagles swept a doubleheader down in Myrtle Beach. St. Elizabeth recorded singles in the first, third, and fifth innings. For the season, Moloughney has 17 strikeouts in 15 innings and has allowed only two extra-base hits.
Meehan reached base three out of every four times he came to the plate and scored nine runs in five games. The senior first baseman from Allentown drove in 12 and was a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen bases. His average for the year is up to .500 and his OPS is 1.528 with 20 runs scored and 19 RBIs through 12 games. Meehan has struck only twice in 43 plate appearances.
The Eagles have started the season with nine wins in 12 games and after playing away all last year, are enjoying competing on their new field this spring. Eastern will host Neumann University this afternoon.
