LOCk HAVEN, Pa. — Though the Eagles won five of the seven contested bouts, a short-handed Eastern Women's Wrestling squad came up on the short end of a 25-24 score at Lock Haven University. In a match where no bout went the distance, the host Bald Eagles claimed wins in the final three weight classes to emerge with their 16th dual match win of the season.
With Savanah Witt not available for the match, and no wrestler at 131 or 207, the Eagles knew they were starting the match down 15 points.
Jesenia Camargo and
Anaelis Morales grabbed ten points back with a pair of pins. Camargo earned her win in the second minute and Morales claimed victory early in the first round.
Josey Wehr did not give up a point and earned a 10-0 win and four team points with a technical fall at 117. Her match finished midway through the second round.
After Lock Haven claimed wins by forfeit at 124 and 131,
Paige Jackson and
Zoey Haines put Eastern up 24-10 with pins. Haines has now won her last five matches by pin.
Down 14, Lock Haven claimed full bonus point wins with pins at 160 and 180 before claiming the match with a forfeit at 207.
Loch Haven beat York 45-7 in the other match of the day.
The Eagles have a next weekend off before traveling to West Virginia for the program's first NCAA Regional Tournament.
