Eagles Sweep Women's Wrestling Honors

NEWTOWN, Pa.— The Middle Atlantic Conference Office today released special awards for the 2025-'26 Women's Wrestling Season. League coaches honored three individuals from Eastern University for special awards. head Coach Andrew Taylro and his two All-Americans earned recognition from the league.

Savannah Witt finished the season 31-3 overall. Her only two losses to collegiate wrestlers came at the National finals. She lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual National Champion and, after knocking out the wrestler from Iowa, lost by decision in the third round of the consolation bracket. She finished her season with a win by decision in the seventh-place match. Witt, who pinned her way to a MAC Championship at 124, earned bonus-point wins in 28 of her 31 wins. She finished with 17 pins and 10 technical falls.

League coaches picked Zoey Haines as the Rookie of the Year. Haines also earned All-America honors in her rookie season and finished 35-7 overall. Thirty-four of her 35 wins came with bonus points, and her 24 wins by fall led the nation. After falling in her opening match, she won three-straight matches by fall at the National finals and earned her way into the placement rounds. Haines was the MAC Champion at 145.

Taylor picks up a Women's Coach of the Year Honor to match the recognition he earned on the men's side at Delaware Valley in 2023-'24. Taylro and his staff pushed the timeline forward for Women's Wrestling to start competition this past fall. Hired less than a year ago, Taylor and his staff built both rosters and had their eight women within a few points of winning a MAC title. Four Eagles won titles at their weight classes and all eight earned All-MAC Honors. In the six matches between the Eastern and York, the Eagles won five. With Haines and Witt winning by pin and Maya Krrieger and Olivia Kinder earning shutout wins by technical fall, four of those five wins were bonus-point victories.

Taylor and York Head Coach Duane Bastress were named Co-Coach of the Year.

Under his leadership, the Eagles advanced five women out of the NCAA Regional. Eastern will host its first home matches next year.
