Malik Asfour and
Nicholas DeLorenzo earned first-place finishes in their respective weight classes,
Jackson Orrell garnered runner-up honors, and both
Ryan Mansueto and
Darrale Barrett each placed third as the Eagles competed at the John Summa Invitational at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. The Eagles finished in fourth place out of 13 competing teams with a score of 172.5.
Asfour claimed another title at 125, winning four matches to improve to 23-5 on the season. He won his first three matches over Washington and Jefferson's Holden Dubois, Baldwin's David Fielder, and Alfred State's Mason Drew via technical fall, before pinning St. John Fisher's Daniel Visha in the title match in 1:25.
DeLorenzo took the title at 165, winning all five of his matches, three of which came by fall. He began his day with an 18-1 technical fall win over Ohio Wesleyan's Skyler Cornell, before a win by fall over Washington and Jefferson's John Starusko. He went on beat Case Western's Marty Landes in a 9-3 decision, before punching his ticket to the championship bout with a close win by fall, 7-6, over St. John Fisher's Evan Salazar. DeLorenzo went on to beat Ohio Northern's Hunter Buckland by fall in 4:42 to improve to 25-9 on the season.
Orrell finished as the runner-up at 133, going 4-1 on the day. He recorded major decision victories over Niagara Community College's Ethan Fletcher and Case Western's Alex Greene-Barrios, before a 9-2 fall win over Washington and Jefferson's Alexander Tucker. He punched his ticket to the championship with a 7-6 decision win over Thiel's Deshonn Valentine, before dropping a close 7-6 decision to Baldwin's Nathan Moser.
Barrett and Mansueto each took third at 141 and 174, respectively. Barrett went 5-1 on the afternoon, with fall wins over St. John Fisher's Owen Englert, along with Case Western's Dani Rosen and Louka Babic. He also a pair of wins by decision over his teammate
Jonny Beckett and Niagara's Aiden Poe. Mansueto also went 5-1 on the day, winning his first five matches - two by fall and one each by technical fall, major decision, and decision.
Eastern will be back in action in three weeks for the NCAA Regional Tournament.
