YORK, Pa. - Eastern Women's Track and Field put the finishing touches on an excellent outdoor season with a tremendous third day Saturday at the 2025 MAC Championships. In her final outdoor conference championship meet, senior
Hailey Shreffler finished as the MAC Champion in a pair of events and won three total medals on the day.
Shreffler began the day with a record-breaking performance in the 1500 Meter Run. The senior from Nesquehoning won the event in 4:32.63, breaking Kierra Zack's long standing record by close to two seconds. She also set the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships meet record in the event. Zack had held the record since 2019, when she ran a 4:34.47 in the event at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier. Shreffler followed that up with a first-place finish in the 800 Meter Run, crossing the finish line in 2:15.23. In her senior season, Shreffler finished as a three-time MAC Champion, a Second-Team All-MAC in the Mile, and Third-Team All-MAC in a pair of relays across both the indoor and outdoor campaigns.
Sophomore
Savana Dodd collected a Second-Team All-MAC finish in the Shot Put. It was her first outdoor medal, and her third in her first two seasons with the program. Dodd broke her own mark with a record throw of 12.89m. Eastern's final medal of the day came in the 4x400 Meter Relay, as
Mya Cadena, Shreffler,
Gisella Croge, and
Anahrie Anderson placed third with a time of 4:03.68.
The Eagles scored in four other events on Saturday. Anderson recorded a new PR in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 58.54, good for fourth place. That time is now the second-best finish in program history.
Am'yra Johnson and
De'Nair Drew placed fourth (15.38) and eighth (15.95) in the 100m Hurdles. In the Triple Jump,
Janitza Hernandez-Albino set a new PR in the with a jump of 10.79 meter, good for seventh place and third best on the outdoor list.
Lastly, in the 4x100 relay,
Kayla Jefferson,
Desirae Majett,
Tyla Cooper, and
Am'yra Johnson finished eighth with a time of 51.02.
"I am proud of the hard work everyone put in over these past three days," Eastern Head Coach
Will Mills said. "We had numerous PRs, many placing higher in their events than previously ranked, and we performed better than the Pre-Championship coaches poll. I am happy about the growth we experienced this year. We set some good groundwork for next year."
The Eagles, in total, across both teams, medaled in five events, and finished seventh as a team with a score of 62. They scored in every event group, and finished with 24 podium appearances, three conference champions, a conference meet record, and 10 new school records.
