MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Eastern Men's Track and Field competed in the 43rd annual Millersville Metrics this weekend at Millersville University. The Eagles put forth a strong weekend of competition, placing 3rd of out 17 competing teams.
Sophomore
Ni'Male Greenwood recorded 18 points in the 100 and 200 Meter Dashes, placing second and first, respectively. Greenwood ran a 22.17 200m time and a 10.93 time in the 100m. Junior
Ryle Mellinger recorded eight points in the steeplechase, setting a new PR in the event with a time of 9:45.84, good for second place.
Jeric Lewis also recorded a top-two finish, scoring eight points and placing second in the Triple Jump with a 13.47m.
Cameron Baker picked up six points in the 400 with a new PR time of 52.22, and
James Ugorji added five more with a fourth place finish in the event.
Robert Walton placed third in the 800m with a time of 1:56.42,
Jason Bateman finished fourth in the 100 (11.24), and
Elijah McCullough took home fourth place honors in the Long Jump (6.41m).
To round out the weekend,
Derrick Swain finished sixth and eighth in the Shot Put and Discus Throw,
ShaMar Davis placed seventh in the 400m Hurdles, and
Kojo Cunningham took home eighth in the 200. A pair of Eastern's relay teams, the 4x1 and 4x4, finished in first and second, respectively.
"We had some solid performances today," Eastern Head Coach
Will Mills said. "The goal this week was to work on our race strategies during competition and to fine tune the little details in the field events. I am proud of what we accomplished as a team."
Eastern will be back in action next week at the TCNJ Multi and Invitational.
