COLLEGEVILLE AND LANCASTER, Pa. - Eastern Women's Track and Field competed in pair of events on Saturday. Distance runners and throwers competed at the Blue and White Invitational at Franklin & Marshall, while sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers took part in the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus. Sophomore
Savana Dodd once again rewrote the record book in the Weight Throw, and overall, six Eagles recorded top-eight finishes across both meets.
Dodd, who hails from Gibbsboro, N.J., broke her own school record at F&M. She recorded a toss of 15.63m, close to a full meter longer then her previous personal best. Dodd holds the school record in both the Weight Throw and the Shot Put. It was a top-50 finish across Division III Track and Field, third in the Middle Atlantic region, and second in the MAC. Additionally, it would have won the event at last winter's MAC Championships, and it was one of two throws over 15 meters for the sophomore on the day. Dodd also placed fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.69m.
Hailey Shreffler recorded a fifth place finish in the 400m at 1:02.88, and she, along with
Mya Cadena,
Gisella Croge, and
Erica Lewis, placed eighth in the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:30.31.
At Ursinus, first-year
Am'yra Johnson recorded a new PR in the 60m Hurdles, crossing the finish line in 9.75 seconds. That time is good enough for sixth on Eastern's all-time list in the event.
Eastern will be back in action at the Ott Center at Penn and at Susquehanna next weekend.
