COLLEGEVILLE AND LANCASTER, Pa. - Eastern Men's Track and Field competed in pair of events on Saturday. Distance runners and throwers competed at the Blue and White Invitational at Franklin & Marshall, while sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers took part in the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus. The Eagles recorded multiple top-eight finishes over both meets and continued what has been a solid indoor season.
At Ursinus, sophomore
James Ugorji recorded a top-five finishes in both the 60m and 200m. He placed fourth in the 200m at 23.15 and fifth in the 60m at 7.10. His 7.10 in the 60m puts him in third place in the event in program history, while his 200m time puts him eighth. Fellow sophomore
Daniel Franklin finished right behind Ugorji with a time of 23.53.
In the 60m Hurdles,
Ian Hopkins, fresh off his record-breaking run last weekend at Haverford, placed first in the event with a time of 8.59. Franklin hit an all-time PR in the event, finishing just Hopkins at 8.60, good for second place all time in program history. First-year
Fritz Clement also set a new PR with a sixth place finish and a time of 9.18.
Fellow first-year
Jeric Lewis placed third in the Triple Jump with a distance of 13.21m, while sophomore
Elijah McCullough finished in fourth in the event at 13.11m. McCullough also placed fifth in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.44m, a new season best.
In the High Jump,
Keyon Jones took home first place honors at 1.80m, and sophomore
Donovan Skinner won the Pentathlon with a total score of 2,773 points across four events. He placed first in the Long Jump, third in the 1000m, and fifth in both the High Jump and Shot Put.
At F&M,
Robert Walton placed fourth in the 800m (1:58.69), while
Ryle Mellinger came in sixth place (2:01.18).
Eastern will be back in action at the Ott Center at Penn and at Susquehanna next weekend.
