HAVERFORD, Pa. - Eastern Men's Track and Field put together another strong performance on Saturday in its final tuneup before the 2025 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College. Sophomore
Foday Koroma smashed his own PR and set a new school record in the Weight Throw, and 14 other Eagles recorded top-eight finishes.
Koroma, who broke the record in the Weight Throw record earlier this year, recorded a throw of 13.23m, setting a new record by nearly one full meter. The throw came on his final attempt on Friday night at Ursinus. Nick Bensavage held the record briefly before Koroma's, setting a new PR with a throw of 12.63m.
Jason Bateman won the 60m with a time of 7.07, and first-year
Ian Hopkins continued his strong surge in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.45 and a first place finish.
Robert Walton and
Ryle Mellinger finished 1-2 in the 800m, racing neck and neck with each other the entire way. Walton finished in first at 1:57.74 and Mellinger crossed the finish line in 1:57.81.
In the Triple Jump,
Jeric Lewis set a new PR with a distance of 13.37m and a second place finish. In the 400m,
Keyon Jones (54.01),
Cameron Baker (54.11), and Shamar Davis (54.37) went 4-5-6, while
Jason Karch placed seventh in the 3000m at 9:40 even.
Levi Weir placed eighth in the mile with a time of 4:39.75.
Lastly, in the Shot Put,
Derrick Swain finished fourth with a throw of 13.14m, and
Christian Marrero placed sixth with a throw of 12.37m. At the Penn State Tune Up,
Ni'Male Greenwood finished third in the 60m with a time of 6.96.
Eastern will be back in action next weekend for the 2025 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
