HAVERFORD, Pa. - Eastern Women's Track and Field competed at the Seamus McEIligott Invitational over the weekend at Widener and Haverford.
Hailey Shreffler won a pair of events, three Eagles made the top-10 program list, and 13 total athletes recorded top-eight finishes.
Shreffler, who has continued a tremendous senior season with the Eagles, placed first in both the 400m (1:02.68) and the 3000m (10:32.95). Both of her times put her in the top-10 in both events, and her 3000m finish puts her third in the MAC so far this season. The Nesquehoning native sits second all-time in the 3000m and ninth in the 400m.
Anahrie Anderson placed third in the 400m at 1:04.25, and
Gisella Croge finished seventh at 1:06.31.
The Eagles had two top-three finishers in the 60m Hurdles. First-year
Am'yra Johnson placed second with a time of 9.96, and
Janitza Hernandez-Albino came in third at 10.18. The sophomore' time put her in the top-10 for the event.
Rounding out the track results, Anderson finished fifth in the 200m at 28.54, while
Kayla Jefferson placed eighth at 29.25. First-year
Kayleigh Newsome placed fourth in the 5000m at 21:23.87, and in the 4x200 relay, Anderson, Johnson, Jefferson, and
Desirae Majett placed second at 1:53.68.
In the field, Hernandez-Albino and
Tyla Cooper finished fifth (4.61m) and sixth (4.60m),
Savana Dodd came in fourth in the Shot Put (11.81m) and fifth in the Weight Throw (13.71m), and
Destiny Barlow came in fifth in the Triple Jump at 9.23m.
Eastern will be back in action next weekend at the Blue and White Invitational.
