Haines Takes First at 145 at New Standard Invitational

YORK, Pa. - Eastern Women's Wrestling continued its strong debut season on Saturday against an excellent field at the New Standard Invitational. Zoey Haines gave up just three points in four matches en route to a first place at the 145 weight class. When she won the final with a pin 3:39 into the match, it was her only second period action of the day. With Savannah Witt competing at a national training event, the Eagles placed fifth with a score of 90.5

Haines breezed through her first three matches. She won her Round of 16 match over Misericordia's Kailey Remish 12-0 by fall in just 1:28. She won her next two matches over Ashley Denny of New England College and Sanyah Queen of Western New England University in a combined 1:12 with 11-0 and 10-0 victories by superior points. She ended the day with a championship win, pinning Ursinus' Cloe Charlesworth and earning a 6-3 victory.

Jesenia Camargo finished as the runner-up at 103. She started the day with a 8-1 win by fall over Kyler Lamb in the quarterfinals before coming away with a 6-0 victory by points over Arcadia's Sam Larkin in the semifinal round. She dropped a hard fought 10-4 decision by points in the championship to Ursinus' Mandy Graves.

At 160, Olivia Kinder took home third places honors after going 4-1 on the day. She won over York's Jahzari Abney 10-0 by superior points, York's Ashley Knapp 12-1 by superior points, Ursinus' Charlotte Bowman by pin, Ursinus' Emma Matera by injury default, and Marywood's Kaylee Anderson 4-2 by fall in the third place match.

At 117, Josey Wehr finished in fifth place, going 3-2 on the day. She beat Arcadia's Taylor McCue 11-0 by fall, McDaniel's Ariana Carnahan 14-7 by points, and York's Gracie Woodring 8-4 by fall. Paige Jackson also went 3-2 on the day with wins over Jada Stoneberg of York, 10-0 by superior points, Paisley Fox of Ursinus 14-3 by superior points, and Apprentice School's Gwen Matt, 10-2, by superior points. At 180, Maya Kriger won a pair of matches, both by fall.

Eastern will be back in action next Sunday at the Alvernia Invitational.
