WILKES-BARRE, Pa.— Eastern University Women's Wrestling had six-of-seven wrestlers finish in the top four at the Wilkes Invitational at the McHale Athletic Center in Wilkes-Barre.
Zoey Haines earned the tournament title at 145 pounds with four more decisive wins. Haines, ranked fourth nationally, has not lost to a collegiate wrestler this year.
The Eagles had single competitors in six different weight classes.
Savannah Witt earned second at 124 pounds. She won her first three matches in less than two total minutes before falling to a wrestler from Brown in the final. The loss on points was the first setback of her college career.
Paige Jackson also finished second. She recorded three pins at 138 pounds before falling in the final.
Jesenia Camargo won her final two matches to take third at 103. She ground out a tough 4-2 win in the third place match.
Maya Krieger was the busiest Eagle on the day. She won her opening match but fell in the quarterfinals. She delivered three pins in the consolation bracket at 180 pounds before falling in the third place match.
Olivia Kinder also finished fourth. After winning her first two matches on points, she dropped a match on points in the semifinals. She earned a place int he consolation final with a pin, but fell on points.
The Eagles, who were ranked 16th Nationally this week, posted the second-most team points of any squad at the invitational despite not competing in three weight classes.
Eastern head back north of the tunnel again next weekend when they will compete alongside the Eastern Men at Misericordia on Saturday.
