SELINSGROVE, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Track and Field set a new program record in the weight throw  and had five new MAC Qualifying efforts with a limited roster competing at the Susquehanna Early Season Multi and Invitational. Savana Dodd posted a career-best 14.84 meters in the Weight Throw and also threw a season-best 11.59 in the Shot Put.

The meet started on Friday with a strong performance by Janitza Hernandez-Albino in her first attempt at a Multi. The sophomore, who has experience in jumps and hurdles, posted a career-best 1.47 meters in the high jump, a solid 10.47 in the hurdles, and a gutsy 2:43.85 in the 800 Meters to finish with 2473 points, which is the second best Indoor Pentathlon in program history. With room for improvement in the Shot Put which is completely new and the Long Jump, where she jumped from well off the board, the coaches feel confident that she will be able to improve on those numbers as the season progresses.

After Dodd got the team off to a good start in the Weight Throw today, Kayla Jefferson ran inside the MAC Qualifying time with an 8.49 in the 60 Meter Dash. Desirae Majett was just outside the number at 8.55.

Anahrie Anderson ran well in the 400, but did not improve on her mark from last week, but she posted an indoor personal-best with a 27.45 in the 200 Meters. Gisella Croge hit a qualifying mark in the 800 Meters with a 2:31.63, and Julia Bassett cleared two heights to qualify in the pole vault.

"Donovan and Janitza competing in the combined events on Friday night really energized the team to have some great performances on Saturday," Said Head Coach Will Mills after the event. "This was a great way to end the semester and the staff and I are incredibly excited to get back to work with the athletes in January."

The Eagles will have over a month to prep for their next meet, where they will compete at the Alvernia Winter Invitational.
